How to Set up a Charity Event

There are lots of worthy causes that need help, and if you are planning on setting up a charity event but have no idea where to start, here are a few ideas to help get you on the right tracks…

Be clear what the event is for, what you are hoping to raise money for and also how much you are hoping to raise – this is the first thing that you need to be clear on. When you are planning this, you are also going have to come up with a budget for the event that you are setting up – you obviously don’t want the event to cost more than it will make so make sure you look into this carefully.

Once you have defined the event and what you hope to raise it is time to start advertising, as well as considering what you need when organising the event. For example, if it is a fete or a family day, do you need to have a medical team on-site such as OMS event medical cover? It is worth checking things like this, as well as local rules that you may need to clear with the council.

When you are advertising your event, it is also a good idea to reach out to the local community as well as local businesses who may wish to sponsor the event or donate something like a prize. Get in touch with people and see if they would be willing to donate something. You may also need some volunteers who can donate some of their own time.
