Practically, every house with children has at least one stuffed animal, either ordered on shelves, stored in a trunk, placed on the bed, etc. In addition to being one of the favorite toys of the little ones, they also become a great source of dust and dirt accumulation, especially if we do not clean them frequently. If you’re willing to clean all your children’s stuffed animals but you don’t really know how to do it, take note of the advice in this article in which we explain how to wash stuffed animals.
Steps to follow:
Steps: 1
When the stuffed animal has a good layer of dust, all it will need is a little cleaning. To do this, take a slightly damp cloth and pass it through all the areas of the stuffed animal until you completely remove the dust. Another option is to use a vacuum cleaner, an old brush or one of those rollers they sell to remove lint.
Steps: 2
In most cases, the stuffed animals can be washed in the washing machine. Although before doing so, it is advisable to check the label of the stuffed animal to check if there is any type of recommendation regarding its washing that you should follow. It is also important that you examine it well beforehand to see if it has any rips or tears in the seams, and in the case of finding one, it is best to sew it up first.
If you also have specific stains, before putting it in the washing machine you can try to remove them by rubbing them with a little laundry detergent.
Steps : 3
To wash the stuffed animals in the washing machine and prevent them from getting damaged, put them in a pillowcase and wash them with the rest of your clothes. The most advisable thing is to use a delicate washing cycle and add a mild detergent and a little fabric softener, so they will be much softer to the touch. When you take them out of the washing machine, you can brush them to make them spotless.
Steps: 4
Do not put a stuffed animal in the washing machine if it is very old or excessively delicate. In this case, place it in a paper bag and sprinkle baking soda on the same bag. Shake the bag until the stuffed animal is well coated in baking soda, then clean it with a brush and a towel. This is also a good way to clean stuffed animals that are too big for the washing machine.
Steps: 5
Drying the stuffed animals in the dryer is not always the most advisable, because if the stuffing of these is made of material prone to shrinking or losing its shape, it is better to avoid it. Instead, hang them on the clothesline to air dry on their own.
Steps: 6
As you can see, washing stuffed animals is not that difficult. Just make sure you follow the care instructions specified on the label and you will always keep them clean and in perfect condition.
