One of the most beloved mammals that are native to the British Isles are Red Squirrels – with their striking colour and tufted ears, they are endearing yet sadly they are few and far between. The competition from the grey squirrels as well as disease and habitat loss caused their numbers to plummet, and it was feared that they would die out altogether.
